About UrkAngiJordi
UrkAngiJordi - Father and Gamer
My name is Eric. I am a married father of two who lives in Baltimore. I am married to my wife Angela, and we have two wonderful children. My oldest is my son Jordan, who likes sports and video games. My second and youngest child is Lauren who loves to help people, tell stories, and play dress up. I have been with Angie now since the turn of the century, and it has been a rocky road up to now. However we still persevere and have a deep understanding for each other that we now cherish and appreciate.
My username is UrkAngiJordi, which is derived from the name of myself and my family at the time I created the name. Urk is my name Eric mispronounced. Many of my friends and sometimes my family would often say 'Urk' instead of saying 'Eric'. So I decided to use that as the first part of my name. The second part of the username 'Angi' refers to my wonderful wife Angela. (You can see more of her on Myspace) The final part of my name 'Jordi' was derived from my son Jordan. Lauren wasn't born at the time so she wasn't in the name placement. I used the name for the first time on a cell phone long ago. It had a 12 letter limit on the name, so I played around with a bunch of sayings and such, and one day came up with UrkAngiJordi. This has stuck with me ever since.
I am a HUGE gamer!
Around that time I discovered the arcade. Now I knew of arcades, but never really got to go to them until this time. I discovered the fact that arcade versions of games were superior to thier console counterparts. I also discovered that I really enjoyed Yu Suzuki Sega arcade games like Space Harrier, Shinobi, and Out Run. I got a Sega Genesis and played many shm'ups on that system. One of my favorite games on the Genesis was Streets of Rage 2. A game whose soundtrack I listen to even to this day. I have many fond memories of Madden, Thunderforce, Sonic, and many other games on that system. Nintendo would once again grab me with the SNES where I played games like Pocky & Rocky and Super Mario World.
The largest gaming era of my life began when I discovered fighting games and the competitive and social aspects of the genre. I discovered Street Fighter 2 late in 1991. I didn't play it in earnest until summer of 1992. SF2 hooked me to the point where I would dream about playing it when I was asleep. I was and still am a huge Street Fighter fanboy. It started my love for fighting games like Capcom Vs SNK 2, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Virtua Fighter 5, and Soul Calibur. I always try to stay at least a little competent in those games. Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo may still be my favorite fighting game. Either that or Virtua Fighter 5.
Nowadays I have much responsibility in my life. Having a family means I have to sacrifice things I used to like to do in the past, like going to gatherings, arcades, and tournaments. But I still do love to play and follow the video game business. I have all the past and present gen systems (PS2, PS3, X-Box, X-Box 360, Gamecube, Wii, Nintendo DS, and PSP) and still enjoy playing great games like God of War, Ninja Gaiden, Grand Turismo, Mario Kart, and many more. So if you like to talk games you can contact me thru my gamertags, or on myspace, or on 1up.com so we can discuss or play games. I am looking for some people to play TMNT arcade game with...
